Our educational, sports, and cultural activities
Each activity at the Felana Maitso Center is designed to meet the fundamental needs of the children: to learn, grow, play, dream, and thrive together.
We may not always have the most sophisticated equipment, but we put all our heart into creating a rich and stimulating environment.
Thanks to the diversity of activities, every child can discover their talents, build confidence, and form strong bonds with others.
Moments of play, learning, and sharing bring rhythm and joy to their daily lives.
A center where we learn through play, create through fun, and where every moment matters.
A diversity of activities to grow differently
The children take part in a variety of workshops: visual arts, music, cooking, gardening, and even taekwondo.
These activities awaken their curiosity, stimulate their creativity, and help them express themselves freely.
Moments to learn how to live together
Through play, sharing, and group activities, children develop listening skills, solidarity, and respect for others.
Each activity is also a lesson in community life.
Awakening each child’s potential
We believe that every child has a talent waiting to flourish.
By offering a caring and stimulating environment, we help them discover their strengths and believe in their future with confidence.
Livestock and Agriculture
To meet our basic needs, we’ve set up a small poultry and duck farm, along with some food crops. This allows us to produce eggs, a bit of meat, and sometimes vegetables to complement the children’s meals.
When there’s a surplus, we sell it to generate modest income, which is directly reinvested in the center’s needs: food, school supplies, or medical care.
Beyond food autonomy, these activities are educational: children learn how to care for animals, grow crops, and understand the value of work and patience.
Culinary Arts
The mothers welcomed at the center actively contribute to community life, particularly through cooking. Introductory workshops are organized to teach them how to prepare simple, balanced meals suited to the children’s nutritional needs.
These shared moments are also an opportunity for some women to learn a trade, regain a social role, or even develop a small income-generating activity.
Cooking together also means creating bonds, sharing recipes and memories, and building a true supportive community around a warm meal.
School, Library & Educational TV
All children at the center receive free education through our in-house school, which is also open to children from the surrounding neighborhood. This universal access to education helps fight exclusion and fosters a strong connection with the local community.
To support learning, we’ve set up a small library with books suitable for all ages.
An educational TV room completes the space: children watch documentaries, educational cartoons, or awareness videos—combining fun with learning.
Because we believe that access to knowledge is a key to breaking the cycle of exclusion.
Taekwondo & Discipline
Every week, the children participate in taekwondo sessions led by a passionate instructor. This discipline teaches them self-control, respect for others, and perseverance.
Beyond sport, it is a true school of life: learning to channel their energy, follow rules, and push their limits.
Progress is clearly visible: more confidence, better listening, and greater daily discipline.
The children also take part in small internal competitions and receive certificates or symbolic rewards, boosting their motivation and pride.

Hope-Inspiring Activities
Activities to Grow Differently
At the Felana Maitso Center, each activity is designed to support the children’s holistic development.
Through cooking, farming, sports, and academic support, the children discover their talents, gain self-confidence, and learn to live together.
These daily experiences build lasting memories, develop autonomy, and help each child prepare for a more peaceful and secure future.
A Place of Discovery and Opportunity
Our activities are open to all children at the center, and sometimes to youth from the surrounding neighborhood.
Thanks to the involvement of volunteers, interns, and partners, we offer a variety of workshops: gardening, cooking, taekwondo, reading, educational games, and more.
Each contribution is valuable, as it broadens the children’s horizons and helps them open up to the world.
A Community Engaged in Learning
Here, everyone can teach and learn.
Young civic service volunteers, local or international helpers, university interns — each person brings their own skills to support the children.
These exchanges are rich and welcome: the center is a lively, open place where talents are shared with kindness, helping both children and adults grow together.
Help us nurture their talents and dreams.
