Orphaned by both parents, Hajaniaina faced the pain of loss and loneliness at a very young age. After the successive deaths of his parents, his grandmother — elderly and widowed — took him in. However, due to his mental disability, she no longer had the strength or the means to care for him.
On September 4, 2020, she brought him to the Felana Maitso Center, with a heavy heart, hoping he would find a gentler future. Since that day, she has not returned — perhaps out of fear, or maybe helplessness.
Since his arrival, the center has become Hajaniaina’s only home. Surrounded by caring adults, he receives the attention, patience, and care necessary for his development. Despite the challenges, every small progress he makes is a victory, celebrated with warmth and hope by the entire team.
